This painting belongs to a series developed through relationships with animals of other species. The series explores closeness, dependence, and respect. Its main driving force is the sense of wonder I experience in interspecies interactions. 

Relationships with animals create a bridge that allows me to gently stroke the rejected parts of myself. 

By learning patience through interspecies communication, I learn patience with myself. By recognizing the agency of the unruly animals I have the privilege of interacting with, I simultaneously give agency to the most rejected and disliked version of myself. 

This does not mean, however, that I associate animals of other species with weakness. Quite the opposite: they are my authorities and my best teachers of new values, extending far beyond the ideals of success and productivity that govern the human world. 

Most of the subjects in my paintings are residents of an animal sanctuary near Gdańsk.
