artist’s statement

At present, my artistic practice is inspired by closeness with animals of other species. I seek to understand their subjectivity; I touch their soft fur, form relationships, and observe. I am interested in behavioral knowledge and the ethics of interspecies relationships. I look closely at domesticated and dependent animals, as well as those who have been abandoned and those who have found refuge and a safe place. Above all, however, I want to admire them, and I feel honored whenever they return my gaze.

Introspection remains an important tool in my creative practice. Relationships with other animals reveal new parts of myself to me. They also often help me learn to appreciate qualities that may, at first glance, seem useless. Through them, I am learning patience, unruliness, and attentiveness.

My creative process is primarily about sensing, contemplating, and imagining. For me, imagination is like a synesthetic sense, essential in every experience. From the images that arise in my consciousness, I select those that I feel are most important to translate into the language of painting. I love searching within the world of visual art for ways to express thought and feeling.

In art, I deeply value the possibility of gaining insight into the personal experiences of the person creating the work, as it offers a soothing opportunity to recognize myself within them. It gives me a sense of closeness and helps me become more at ease with the various difficulties arising from the human condition. These are the kinds of experiences I would like to create for others.

I am fascinated by the organic and chaotic nature of reality. I consider tenderness in the way we approach ourselves and our surroundings to be the most important value.
